He originally studied Theatre Design at the Central School of Art and Design and then worked at several of the major British repertory companies, and the Bayreuth Festival before joining the BBC and has won several prestigious awards, bursaries and scholarships including the Royal Society of Arts Award and Arts Council of Great Britain Theatre Design Award. He was also a member of the BAFTA Wales jury for Best Costume. Eric originally worked as a member of the BBC Design Group but went freelance in 1997.
