Paul was nominated for 'Best Lighting Design' for Corcadorca’s WOYZECK and Wexford Opera’s DER SILBERSEE in the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards, and he won the 'Best Design' Award for his set design of DEAD MAN WALKING (Opera Ireland).

Current and forthcoming productions include TAMING OF THE SHREW for the RSC; COMEDY OF ERRORS, THE RESISTIBLE RISE OF ARTURO UI and MARBLE all playing at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin (for whom he is also an Associate) and LAY ME DOWN SOFTLY at the Abbey’s Peacock Theatre; THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP at the Gate Theatre, Dublin; and THE WALWORTH FARCE (Druid Theatre production at the Cottesloe National Theatre, previously at New York/ Edinburgh Festival).

Other recent projects include THE SNOW MAIDEN, THE MINES OF SULPHUR and TUTTI IN MASCHERA for Wexford Opera; POWDER HER FACE at the Linbury Studio, ROH; BIG LOVE at the Abbey Theatre; TARTUFFE at Liverpool Playhouse & The Rose Theatre, Kingston; THE DEEP BLUE SEA at the Gate Theatre Dublin, THE HAIRY APE for Corcadorca theatre Co in Cork; TRAD (Australian tour, Edinburgh Fringe First, Galway Festival); TURANDOT (set & lighting, Opera Ireland); INTEMPERANCE (Liverpool Everyman); WOMAN AND A SCARECROW, ROMEO AND JULIET, JULIUS CAESAR, HOMELAND (set/lighting) and SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL (Abbey Theatre) and ALICE IN WONDERLAND (Helix Theatre, Dublin).

In the UK you may also have seen SMALLER directed by Kathy Burke in the West End/UK tour starring Dawn French and Alison Moyet as well as HARVEST (Royal Court Theatre Downstairs); PIERROT LUNAIRE (Almeida Opera); BLUE/ORANGE (Sheffield Crucible & UK tour) and BORN BAD and IN ARABIA (Hampstead).
